A writer has to be organized which means having an area where you can write and keep all your paraphernalia within easy reach. You’ll be surprised how often you need to reference your dictionary, thesaurus, book of quotations etc. during the course of a session, depending on the genre you are writing.

Furthermore, from day one, set up a filing system on your computer for your digital documents and references as well as one for cuttings, notes etc. in your writing area. The better organized you are, the easier it’ll be to lay your hands on what you need, and that will make you feel like writing more, which will result in greater output for you to sell. I am usually working on many different books at a time, so organizing my documents on my computer helps me a great deal.
